When a person under the age of 18 is charged with a criminal offence, special considerations apply.  For example, a young person, unlike an adult, is entitled to have a lawyer, as well as a parent or other adult present during police questioning.  Further, if a young person is convicted of a committing a crime, the sentencing Judge must consider different principles than if they were sentencing an adult.

At Bueti Wasyliw Wiebe, our lawyers are well versed in the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and  will use this knowledge to ensure that our young clients receive the best representation possible.
